Adult Sites will be affected. Panic has erupted and sex workers are scrambling on how to continue to make a living.

On Wednesday, April 11, 2018  President Trump signed the bill that gives victims and prosecutors more power to sue websites that knowingly aid sex trafficking

The new law, Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, or FOSTA, will make online platforms face legal repercussions for hosting any and all advertisements for sex works.

What this means is that ads that enable sex trafficking will be knocked offline, shut down, and owners prosecuted.

The panic surrounding FOSTA has resulted in the Seizure of Backpage, an online forum. A co-founder of Backpage was recently jailed for 10 days and released on $1million bond this Monday as he awaits trial.  It has been alleged that Backpage ignored the government warnings to stop running their ads which promoted prostitution. These ads involved human trafficking and involved children.

The owners refused to close since the site brought in $500 million in related revenues since opening in 2004.

Other sites have since gone dark:

1. Craigslist has closed their adult personals section.

2. The Erotic Review has ended service in the United States

3. Cityvibe has gone dark.

4. Night Shift is unavailable.

6. Reddit has banned the following subReddits: Escorts, Male Escorts, Hookers, and SugarDaddy
